Xblaze 0.8

March 31st, 2007 Jasarien No comments

So I made another small change in Xblaze. This one is thanks to =HT=Gamma from XFirePlus.

Previously, any status message you set would have set you as “Away”. I’ve changed this so that you will not be set as Away unless your status message is “(AFK) Away From Keyboard”. Only then will you be set away.

This means you can now set iTunes as your status message without being marked as away, and any other custom message too.

Xblaze 0.7

March 28th, 2007 Jasarien No comments

I’ve put up a new revision of the Xblaze plugin for Adium. Not much has changed: I added the new list of games from the forum and updated the xfire_games.ini to detect more games from contacts. I also updated the version of XfireLib that Xblaze uses, so now when a contact changes their nickname, the changes appear instantly on your buddy list, (I’m still working on the ability to change your own nickname).
Finally, I compiled the plugin against the new Adium 1.0.2 which will hopefully improve the stability of the plugin somewhat.

Make a backup of your current Adium install before trying this new version incase there is anything wrong.

Also, for those that don’t look at the forum often, E8|Led_Zep noticed that if you want to change your nickname from Xblaze (and don’t have access to a Windows install at all), you can do it by updating your profile at xfire.com

The new downloads are over on the Downloads page. E-mail me if you have any trouble.

I’ve tried out Xblaze with the new Adium Beta, (1.0.2b2) and I haven’t had any problems as of yet.

If you try out the beta and have any problems, post in the forums.

Status Update

March 8th, 2007 Jasarien No comments

Hey guys,

Just thought I’d give you a bit of a status update. I’ve made a bit of progress since the last update – the main thing is the addition of a toolbar.
The toolbar basically gives access to the Connect / Disconnect and Add / Remove Buddies functions (replacing the ugly square + and – buttons).

Also, I made a start working on the messaging part of the app – the most important part, I think you’ll agree. What good is an Xfire client if you can’t chat?
Although, I’ve hit a bit of a wall with this part, and I’m having some trouble getting my head around how to do this conceptually.

I’ve been able to get a chat window to display when a buddy’s name is double clicked in the buddy list. That’s all well and good, but if you left the window open and double clicked the same buddy’s name, a new window will appear… and that’s not good.

I’m also having trouble figuring out how to associate a window with a particular buddy. I will be working on this, and as soon as the penny drops, the rest should come easy.

So thats where I’m at now. Hopefully more will come soon. :)
