My Position
I just thought I’d write a bit about my position in relation to XBlaze.
I seem to have come into a position where I have become the maintainer of XBlaze. (I don’t like to use the word “owner” in terms of Open Source software). In different situations, this can mean different things.
Unfortunately, at the moment, I do not possess the skill or knowledge or further the development of XBlaze. Everything you are using is still the work of Kainjow, the Adium Team and the XFireLib guys. (But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t contact me still for support).
I just wanted to put it out there that there will not be any updates to XBlaze for some time. That is of course unless someone else decides to take a shot at it (which they are completely welcome to do).
I am in the process of learning Cocoa (the language that XBlaze is written in) and attempting to familiarise myself with the XFire protocol and the Adium plugin interface. It might prove to be easier to write a stand alone application for XBlaze, eliminating the overhead requirements of Adium (and stemming the flow of bug reports those guys get about XBlaze). Both avenues, the plugin and the stand alone app, are still viable paths for the future of XBlaze, but until I better my knowledge of programming for Mac OS X, there’s not a lot I can do.
I just wanted to say this to let you all know what’s happening.
